Choose the roofer that best meets your project and budget needs

Once you’ve narrowed your list and invited a few roofing companies to your home to give you an estimate, you can discuss more specific topics to help you choose the right company for your roofing installation.

Understand installation plan, clean up and costs

Local codes and ordinances

  • Who will obtain the permit?
  • Are permit costs included?
  • Will you conduct an inspection before and after doing the work?

Product choices

  • How many shingle choices do you offer?
  • Are they listed by the brand and manufacturer’s name?
  • What warranties can you offer?
  • Can you tell me the differences (like construction, texture, UL fire rating) between the product options?

Estimates and payment

  • Do you offer free estimates? (Estimates are often free, but be sure to ask about this before agreeing to one.)
  • Does the estimate list the product name and color?
  • What are the payment terms? (It’s typical to pay one-third of the cost up front. Resist anyone asking you to pay for it all in advance.)
  • How do you accept payment? (Pay by check or credit card, not cash.)
  • How do I pay my insurance deductible? (Any contractor who claims they can handle the repair without you having to pay your insurance deductible may be committing insurance fraud and/or putting you at risk. Check out more tips for dealing with insurance here.)

Clean-up and inspection

  • Will you be conducting daily clean up?
  • How will they make sure your yard and home stay free from stray nails and other debris?
  • Who will inspect the job and when will that be?

Scheduling

  • How far out the roofing companies are scheduling?
  • How many days will the project take?
  • What might cause possible delays in the schedule?
  • Is there a no-later-than finish date?

6 REASONS WHY NOT ALL ROOFING COMPANIES ARE THE SAME

When it comes to your business, your facility is one of the most important aspects of your operations. With something this crucial, a second-rate roof isn’t going to cut it. But second-rate is what you’ll end up with if you’re not careful. Roofing companies might offer similar services, but that doesn’t mean the end result will be of a similar quality every time. You have to do your research before making your decision in order to find the best residential roofing companies for your needs. To let you in on a little industry knowledge, here are six reasons why not all roofing companies are the same.

1. Experience

Before choosing any of the roofing companies listed on Google Maps, there are a few considerations to make, including experience. Nothing against new roofing companies, but as a standard, a company that has been around for years and has done the roofs on a wide variety of commercial buildings is more likely to have the know-how to replace the roof on your unique facility. When you’ve been around as long as we have, you learn a thing or two.

2. Location

True enough that in many situations—grabbing dinner, looking for a plumber, etc.—you’re going to go with a business that’s fairly close by, rather than one across town. The fact of the matter is, though, when it comes to storm damage roofing companies, it doesn’t matter where they’re located.

Just because you search for a contractor “near you,” doesn’t mean you’re getting the best solutions and services. The best roofing companies will travel to you no matter the distance and give you a much better overall roof and experience.

3. Safety

While there are regulations that all roofing companies has to follow to be OSHA compliant, that doesn’t mean that every company is going to go above and beyond to ensure the safety of every person in the vicinity of the job site.

Before you choose your any of the residential roofing companies near you, take a look at their safety measures. Do they require intensive training for every person that will be up on your roof? Do they have physical measures in place to prevent falls and other injuries?

4. Solutions

You may think that it is better for the roofing companies to offer you a lot of options, but it is actually more beneficial to find a roofing company that specializes in only one or two roofing solutions. This indicates that they are the expert and know that product forward and backward.

First, research the best type of commercial roofing material for your property, and then you should look for a contractor that specializes in that solution.

5. Quality

The problem with looking for the most convenient roofing companies is that you may be discounting much better companies. If you only look within a certain radius, you could end up with a sub-par roof that needs repairs or replacing after only a few years.

The best roofers have been in business for decades and have served hundreds of happy customers. When this is the case, you know that the quality of work is going to be far superior. Combined with experience, high-quality roofing solutions like spray foam, are going to give you long-lasting results that save you time and money in the long run.

6. Core values

Now, it may sound cheesy, but a company that can’t put words to their mission, vision, and core values isn’t a company you want to work with. Having shared values means that a company is dedicated to putting their best foot forward. For the customer, this means superior service and customized solutions, high-quality products and expert workmanship, and a better overall roof experience.

If you’re in the market for a new insurance claim roofing company, Alliance Specialty Contractor is here to help. With over 40 years experience and customers all over the country, we know this industry inside and out.
